Out of curiosity, I took a look at the softball roster/player hometowns. The biggest downfall (imo) for VT football was neglecting (or not nurturing) relationships within one-day's drive. That doesn’t mean missing national/international recruits when/where there’s a connection or interest, but strive/focus to “Own the 400” should be/is embedded in all plans. It’s a bit of an uphill battle now in football, but CoachP&crew seem to be planting the seeds for when the tide turns.

So looking at the softball roster (the team currently ranked 3rd in the nation!), it appears ~80% came from within “the 400” ..crow’s path for some, but proof positive…
